Peugeot has launched a new print and outdoor campaign for the Peugeot 308 Touring in Australia

The campaign, created by Arnold Furnace, aims to highlight the vehicle’s panoramic glass roof. Titled Hitchhikers, the campaign carries the tag line “Let the Outside World In” and shows different outdoor elements trying to hitch a ride in the car.

Tom Spicer, joint national creative director at Arnold Furnace said in a press release: “The challenge with all car advertising is to hero the product and still have room for a creative idea.  This campaign strikes that balance well and makes its point with imagination and wit.”

Triumph Speed Twin Concept

This modern custom out of England tastefully mines the past to create something that never was but could have been.

It’s called the Triumph Speed Twin Concept, a reference to the iconic 1937 Speed Twin 5T.

Speed Twin

The concept was designed by a pair of young British designers, Roy Norton and Tom Kasher, in what became something of an unofficial styling exercise for Triumph.

The two designers were working on placement at the Xenophya industrial design studio when they approached Triumph with a proposal for “a bike taking retro themes in a modern direction.”

Triumph Product Manager Simon Warburton loved the idea and wrote a brief. He wanted a bike “styled to appeal to younger riders … the bike the Bonneville might have evolved into, in an alternative universe.”

The choice of the Triumph Bonneville is a good one: The 865cc twin is a retro throwback in itself. When the production bike was upgraded to fuel injection, the system was carefully disguised to look like traditional carburetors.

Norton and Kasher set to work, drawing influence from the cafe racers and bobbers of yore. Input from Triumph ensured the Speed Twin concept was feasible from a manufacturing and homologation standpoint. Barbour outdoor clothing, another venerable English brand, helped out with materials for the seat and grips.

Warburton is pleased. He says elements from the concept could influence future projects. We’d love to see those eye-catching girder forks on a production bike. Although they’re mock-ups here, the technology is ripe for resurrection with modern materials and engineering know-how.

First Official Photos of 2013 Acura ILX Sedan and RDX Crossover

February 8th, 2012

We don't have to wait until Wednesday for the 2012 Chicago Auto Show to open its doors to the press to see what the production versions of Acura's 2013 ILX compact sedan and RDX crossover look like as the Japanese carmaker has just released the first official photos.

As we expected, the transition from concept to production didn't bring many changes on either model, just some minor tweaks to the bumper trims and the placing of smaller and less extravagant alloy wheels.

Starting with the ILX, while based on the current Civic, Acura has made considerable efforts to differentiate the compact model from its Honda sibling, both inside and out. Acura says that the primary target customers for the ILX are "Generation Y- successful 20 and 30-somethings moving into the luxury car ranks but looking for high-value propositions in their purchases."
